Newburgh needs a cat shelter NOW!

Newburgh needs a cat shelter NOW!
Why this petition matters
The city of Newburgh, NY has an immense outdoor cat population issue - everyone who lives or spends time here sees it on a daily basis. Despite this, the city has NO shelter facility, NO TNR (trap-neuter-return) program, or even an animal control officer who is allowed to respond to calls regarding cats.
Currently, Newburgh has one part-time animal control officer who responds to calls about dogs. They are not allowed to engage with issues involving cats, and they direct citizens who call for help to small organizations like ours (Talk To Me About Cats, Inc.).
A shelter facility, TNR program, and funding would enable the city to effectively and humanely take care of Newburgh’s community cats and control their numbers.
