Fantastic news! The ANF federal branch have co-written with ALL of the State branches, including ours here in WA, submissions to the health department and the National Strategic Approach to Maternity Services about the problems we are having with unqualified neonates. See below the email I received today: Hi Kelly Thank you for your email. Pleased you have heard from Western Australia Branch and yes this was a complete coincidence. Our Federal Secretary Annie Butler and Mark have been in conversation since and the Federation recognise the increased workload occurring in postnatal wards particularly around unqualified neonates. We have raised this issue with the department of health and our submission to the Australian Health Ministers Advisory Council consultation on a National Strategic approach to Maternity Services (NSAMS) will be available on our website by Monday evening. This paper was developed in consultation with all Branches including Western Australia. We understand that there will be a second stage of consultation in September. Kind Regards, Lori-Anne
