It has been 73 years since the establishment of the state of Israel and since then, many lives have been lost on both sides, many solutions have been put forward, but none have succeeded in ending the misery so far. According to the UN " The two‑State solution remains the only path to ensuring that Palestinians and Israelis can both realize their legitimate aspirations, living side‑by‑side in peace and security, based on the 1967 borders, and with Jerusalem as the capital of both States", yet many countries still do not recognise the state of Palestine, this has only lead to endless suffering and violence, as Palestinians continue to seek international recognition.

The people of New Zealand have always stood for what is right and we have always been a leading country when it comes to human rights, peace, and liberty for everyone. This is the time for New Zealand to show the world that a peaceful solution for Palestine and Israel can be achieved and it must start by recognising the state of Palestine the same way we recognise the state of Israel.
