We are hoping to influence the Zero By Catch Policy. The Zero By Catch Policy is working to influence the New Zealand government over the issue of incidental capturing of NZ sea lions by New Zealand commercial fisheries who are releasing enough sets of net to wrap around the New Zealand coastline. These untargeted animals are now at risk of extinction as commercial fishing has resulted in the death of hundreds of NZ Sea lions. They are currently an endangered species with only 10,000 NZ Sea Lions remaining.
