Classify ANTIFA groups as 'Designated Terrorist Entities' under the TSA

The Terrorism Suppression Act defines terrorism, in New Zealand or elsewhere, as an act that "is carried out for the purpose of advancing an ideological, political, or religious cause" and with the following intention:

  • to induce terror in a civilian population; or
  • to unduly compel or to force a government or an international organisation to do or abstain from doing any act.

We are seeing the second example play out at a rapidly increasing rate.

Mob rule and the 'thug's veto' are a direct threat to the safety and civil liberties of New Zealanders.

So-called anti-fascist groups are in large part responsible for a very real and increasing risk to public safety, property rights, social harmony and civil liberties throughout the Western world and increasingly in New Zealand.

These groups are known for threatening and intimidating behaviour. Their primary objective is to actively suppress the ability of citizens to exercise their right to free speech, expression and lawful congregation.

ANTIFA groups are becoming increasingly aggressive in the tactics they use to enact their genuine fascist agenda. As things stand, ANTIFA in New Zealand is limited to a host of loosely-related groups as attempts to start genuine chapters/branches have been stamped out by mainstream New Zealanders fairly quickly. However, it's only a matter of time until some of the radicals involved with these affiliated groups start organising into a larger, more threatening movement, and we are seeing more references to ANTIFA and an imitation of the ANTIFA extremist dress-style being incorporated into these domestic fringe groups.

We, the undersigned, request that ANTIFA groups, domestic and international, are classified as 'designated terrorist entities' under the Terrorism Suppression Act 2002.

This is a matter of a urgency.
