Elmer Holmes Bobst is a documented anti-Semite and alleged rapist of his granddaughter and great granddaughter. He donated $11 million to the benefactor of NYU'S very own library. By keeping his name on one of our main campus locations, NYU commemorates his legacy and undermines our university's attempts at creating a more diverse and inclusive community. Bobst Library has also become a place where some students are comfortable promoting hate. For instance, posting “Hasta Luego Dreamers” sign on the Bobst Bulletin. If we are truly the diverse and inclusive campus we claim to be, we must change our library's name. It's time our campus represented our beliefs and ideals, rather than honoring someone for simply giving the school a check.
