Unfreeze medical management associations for State of Florida Medicaid health insurance plans so that 1. providers can get contracted with the MMA's & KEEP/CHOOSE their physicians

The Issue

This is important because 1. physicians are losing their patients to other providers 2. physicians have no control or say so in the revamping of the system. For example, I have patients in Volusia County that had Amerigroup insurance. The providers were not notified until several weeks prior to the effective date of May 1,2014 that their insurance would no longer be an option for them in that county. The MMA's that were available to these patients, I am not a contracted provider for . When I tried to become povider, I was told that these contracts were frozen- therefore my patients can not come to me for their care. 3. patients were promised by President Obama that they could keep their plan and their provider - under Governor Scott and the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration- AHCA - this is not the case. People should support this petition because people in America should have the freedom to pick and choose their insurance plans and their physicians - as promised by President Obama. I have been a Pediatrician in Central Florida for 21 years. During that time, I have watched my patients grow from babies, to attending prom, to graduating college to having their own children. My patients mean a lot to me and I should be able to keep them if they wish to have me as their physician. Yestersay, I saw a 4 year old ittle girl but I was unable to see her newborn brother even though the mom wanted me as her Pediatrician. Because of Giovernor Scott and the AHCA she was forced to go to another provider. I am my patients voice. They feel like bureaucrats such as Governor Scott do not care about their welfare because they are mainly woman and children and are low socioeconomic group. It all comes down basically to money. These MMA's are being established to contain costs, pick and choose providers to contain costs and they do NOT consider what is in the best interest of the patient. I consider this to be restriction of trade from a physician's standpoint and a violation of a patient's rights. Governor Scott and President Obama have health insurance and the freedom to pick and choose their physicians and health - plans. Do you ?
