Please help us speak up for safety on Floral Avenue!

The City of Ithaca has applied for funding from the Ithaca Urban Renewal Agency to create three raised crosswalks on Floral Ave at the three locations where there are currently crosswalks!

The full proposal is here: https://www.cityofithacany.gov/DocumentCenter/View/20556/10---City-of-Ithaca---Floral-Avenue-Pedestrian-and-Cyclist-Safety---Application---PUBLIC-FACILITIES

Community input could be the ticket to receiving the funding for this project. Please join us in speaking up in support of this traffic-calming safety improvement for Floral Avenue!

There are three ways to share your comments...

In person:

There will be several opportunities to speak on the proposed project. The schedule is here and it could change, so please check it before you go to a meeting. All meetings are in the Common Council Chambers at City Hall and can be attended via zoom as well.

Please email liz.bageant@gmail.com to let us know if you plan to speak, so that we may coordinate how to most efficiently use the short public comment period.

Virtually:

Thursday, March 19 at 1:00. Pre-register for virtual attendance. (https://tinyurl.com/ydxcvxt3)

Thursday, March 26 at 1:00. Pre-register for virtual attendance. (https://tinyurl.com/yr2knr78)

Thursday, April 23 at 1:00. There is also a comment period during this meeting, but I think it is the day they finalize the funding decisions so may be a bit late.

In writing:

Send your written comments to Anisa Mendizabal (amendizabal@cityofithaca.org). The deadline for written comments is 9:00 a.m. on March 19.

To watch:

Non-interactive live-streams of both meetings can also be viewed using the City of Ithaca’s YouTube channel. For those wishing to attend in person, both parts of the hearing will be held at City Hall, Common Council Chambers, Third Floor, 108 E. Green Street, Ithaca, NY. See IURA website for further details: www.IthacaURA.org

If you have a disability and require accommodation to fully participate, please contact the IURA at amendizabal@cityofithaca.org or (607) 274-6565 at least 72 hours prior to the meeting, if at all possible.

Thank you so much for your efforts!

Best,

Kelda
