Hello everyone,

I just wanted to post a thank you for all of your signatures and support. We came so close.

Erin Cuddihy (city engineer) was a superhero, working with Toole Design, and developing a plan that included a sidewalk, multi-use trail, and raised crosswalks with pedestrian-activated lights. 

She found and completed an application for a federal grant (Transportation Alternatives Program grant) that would provide the vast majority of funding for the improvement. Many of you sent letters of support to the city, and came to Common Council to share their concerns about the road, and to support this project.

However,  unfortunately, as the deadline for the grant looms tomorrow, the DPW has directed Erin not to submit the application. 

It is disappointing that this work will not be able to come to fruition, but we appreciate your solidarity, and hope for improvements to come in the future.
