Restore the 50 mph speed limit on the Scajaquada Expressway

Restore the 50 mph speed limit on the Scajaquada Expressway
Why this petition matters

Until the State's Department of Transportation breaks ground on its long-stalled plan to replace the Scajaquada Expressway with an at-grade boulevard, the speed limit should be restored to 50 miles per hour. The current limit of 30 mph was an unnecessary knee-jerk reaction that has become maddening to motorists and residents alike.
The DOT has abandoned plans to reconstruct the 3.8-mile roadway last year, after the Department was unable to achieve a design consensus with area residents and community stakeholders, including the Olmstead Parks Conservancy. The Cuomo administration had been planning a $104 million boulevard to replace the expressway. The public is told that that money has been repurposed to other parts of the State.
Any participatory design process will take several years to achieve community consensus, making it unlikely that DOT will be ready to break ground before 2024.
Until then, let the people drive.
Allow motorists to drive 50 mph on the expressway that exists today.
