Demand that the NYPD fire Officer Michael J. Reynolds

In the early morning of July 9, 2018, Tennessee resident Conese Halliburton was awakened by the sound of someone kicking in her front door. The invader terrorized Halliburton and her two children, threatening to "break every bone in [her] f***ing neck" if she tried to shoot him, and calling then "f***ing n***ers."

That person was Michael J. Reynolds, badge number 4866, currently employed with NYPD's 33rd precinct.

Officer Reynolds and some friends had rented a home through Air B&B. On the night of July 8-9, Reynolds and his friends had gone out partying. Officer Reynolds got blackout drunk and, on returning to the rented home, entered the wrong residence and terrorized the Halliburton family. Moreover, in the age of Black Lives Matter and in the wake of the death of Eric Garner, Reynolds, Officer Reynolds invoked incredibly racist sentiments and words, exposing his absolutely abhorrent views.

On December 6, 2019, Officer Reynolds was sentenced to two weeks in prison plus three years probation for his home invasion. The 33rd Precinct has not yet announced what action, if any, it will take against Officer Reynolds. He is in fact still employed as an officer with the NYPD.

It is absolutely unacceptable that a violent racist continue to serve as a member of our New York Police Department. We demand that the 33rd Precinct dismiss Officer Reynolds at once for his criminal actions and his disgusting views.
