The ferry stop will align with three bus lines - the 14th St. crosstown, the Houston St. crosstown and the 22 bus to Battery Park City, giving incoming passengers from Brooklyn and Queens easy access to the Lower East Side, the Village, Soho, City Hall, Chinatown and Battery Park City, where many work. It also provides access to the adjacent Citibike station at Corlears Hook Park, and to the East River bikeway, as well as serving the newly refurbished East River Park athletic fields and bandshell which hosts massive summer concerts, relieving neighborhood parking congestion.. The passenger influx will also enliven Grand St.,, while providing Lower East Side residents river access to ferries launching from the Wall St. area's Pier 16, which go to the Jacob Riis National Seashore and to Sandy Hook beach. This makes it possible to hit the beach without ever going on a subway of bus. Grand St. is the missing link in the ferry's route - and the dock is already there, unused! Finally, a cafe would serve park users and ferry riders, making this stop profitable.
