Justice for Lateisha Green - Reinstate the conviction of Dwight DeLee

The Issue

Lateisha Green, 22 year old transgender woman was shot and killed by Dwight DeLee on November 14, 2008. DeLee was convicted of manslaughter as a hate crime and sentenced to 25 years in prison. In 2009 an appeals court overturned the conviction on a tecnicality and DeLee was released from prison. Lateisha's family and community are outraged that the life of their loved one is being devalued and disrespected by the action of the court overturning DeLee's conviction. On October 15, 2014 the NY Court of Appeals will hold a hearing to decide if the conviction will be reinstated. Determined to have justice, they are asking you to sign this petition in support of the NY Court of Appeals holding DeLee accountable and reinstating his conviction.
