Remove the NYPD protected Equestrian Theodore Roosevelt statue in NYC

The Issue

New York City marches, masked, in the middle of Covid 19 pandemic by the thousands, in different boroughs, in unison, diverse ethnicities chant in one voice for Social Justices. As a result, statue removals across the nation, in Philadelphia the statue of former Mayer Frank Rizzoli and in Richmond Virginia, the statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee, are being taken down
In the U.K.,  a bronze monument to the 17th century slave trader was torn and throw in the Harbor down during a Black Lives Matter protest in Bristol, sparked by the death of George Floyd in the US. Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry, a Republican, said Tuesday morning a statue in local Hemming Park had been removed hours earlier, and was the first of the city's Confederate monuments that would be taken down. At a park in Richmond, Va., protesters toppled the statue of the Italian explorer, Christopher Columbus, Tuesday night, vandalized it with spray paint and dropped it in a lake.More than 500 miles north, in Boston, police reported a beheaded Columbus statue overnight.https://www.npr.org/sections/live-updates-protests-for-racial-justice/2020/06/10/873724383/amid-protests-christopher-columbus-statues-take-flak-in-richmond-boston

In light of this, New York City must also follow suite and remove it’s obsolete statue. In light of this, New York City must also follow suite and remove it’s obsolete statues In the meantime NYPD is protecting Teddy...

The Equestrian Theodore Roosevelt, a 1939, 10ft. bronze sculpture located on 188 Central Park West at the entrance of the American Museum of Natural History. An arrogant Teddy, sits mounted high on his horse while walking besides him is a barley clothed African Slave and a Native American Chief. This reflects a painful history where Africans were enslaved and Native Americans were forced to give their homelands to European Settlers.

This statue should be taken down so that no one is reminded of the atrocities and broken treaties. It would show respect for our ancestors that have arduously built these cities and helped raise America.
We need to inspire the future generations and collectively co-create and co-exist in a better, more just society.
To continue exalting statues of honor such as this one, we continue to deny the horrible truths about our history’s racial ignorance and the mistakes exemplified by our government leaders. This gesture of removing this statue  will help mobilize these social changes of equality by abolishing  any false glorification of a scared history. It will pro activate the building of a new trust for the people and it’s city.

Changes needs to happen on all levels, especially at a destination where 5 million tourists visit per year, seeing this as a public monument in the center of the melting pot of the world is an ill representation.

Please help by supporting, let’s continue to remind the Mayor of NEw York City how this can no longer fall through the ignorance  cracks.
