SAVE UNITED STATES SOLDIERS/VETERANS IN CITY HOUSING

The Issue

“PLEASE SIGN PETITION”

SAVE UNITED STATES SOLDIERS/VETERANS IN CITY HOUSING

We demand that the City of New Yok and the New York City Housing Authority save housing for U.S. Soldiers and Veterans.

NYCHA DO NOT MAKE OUR US SOILDERS/VETERANS HOMELESS

U.S. Soldiers and Veterans give their lives to protect our liberty and freedom. As a country, we should make sure our Soldiers having housing upon their return. In addition, our Soldiers housing should NOT be in JEOPARDY when they enlist in the Armed Services.

“The NYC greater metropolitan area is home to over a million service members, vets and their families. As of the most recently available data from the American Community Survey and the US Dept. of Veterans Affairs in 2016, NYC veterans are distributed throughout the city as follows: Queens = 27.9%, Brooklyn = 25.7%, Manhattan = 18.3%, The Bronx = 17.9%, S.I. = 10.2%”. (NYC Veterans; NYC.gov, 2020)

“Officials now say there are 760 homeless veterans in the city, down from 3,689 six years ago”. (NY Times, 2016)

We call on the City of New York and NYCHA to STOP and reconsider our U.S. Soldiers/Veterans when it comes to securing their housing before and after deployment.

STOP THE HOMELESSNESS OF OUR U.S. SOLDIERS AND VETERANS

To further support the cause, please reach out to Councilman - Ritchie Torres, 2546 Hoffman Street, Bronx, NY 10458, office number 718-842-8100 and/or www.council.nyc.gov
