Return the Edward Snowden Statue in Fort Greene Park, Brooklyn.

The Issue

The Edward Snowden Statue is a symbol of an ordinary American citizen fighting for what makes our country so great: our freedom. As Americans, our right to privacy needs to be protected in order to uphold the virtues and philosophies with which our country was founded.

Yes the statue was installed without permission, and yes by a legal definition it may be perceived as vandalism. However no damage was done to the park grounds – it was installed artfully, with full regard and consideration for the surrounding monuments. Today the lines between fine art and graffiti have been blurred. Street art is now protected, coveted, and bought and sold in the world's most well recognized art markets. How is this statue different?

We who sign this petition believe the Edward Snowden Statue should be given a permanent home in Fort Green Park in Brooklyn, New York.
