New York City Animal Care and Control is killing adoptable animals at an alarming rate. The NYC ACC believes that 4 days is enough time for an animal to be reunited with their owner or adopted by a new owner. After the 4 days time the animal can be euthanized. The NYC ACC claims they only euthanize animals for behavior or illness. However, they euthanize adoptable healthy animals seven days a week. Some of these animals even have a person or a rescue willing to take them but they are euthanized anyway. The NYC ACC must become a LOW KILL shelter. They must make every effort to get animals adopted or rescued. They must get rid of their 4 day time limit.

  There are currently only three ACC shelters in all of NYC. One shelter in Manhattan, one in Staten Island and one in Brooklyn. The NYC ACC must open more shelters. They also must screen adopters better to reduce pets being reintroduced into the ACC shelter system. Low cost spay and neuter programs must be made easily accessible in each borough to all NYC residents. The residents of NYC, both two and four legged deserve better than this outdated and barbaric shelter system. Please sign this petition and pass it on. We can make a difference!
