Simmons house adolescent unit is currently temporarily closed, with plans of opening again with the same staff. This petition is to make Simmons house do a complete staff turnover. Below i will list why this needs to happen. We have to refrain from going into further detail because in the past they haven’t refrained from nearly imprisoning  two patients, so for everyone’s safety it’s best not to go further.

• A 14 year old boy, named Corei was successful in his attempt to end his life while at Simmons house. They allegedly didn’t do sufficient checks on him for 30+ mins resulting in his premature death. He was only a child with so much left to live, but that was robbed of him. How can staff still be practicing after ignoring the signs and practically facilitating a child’s death. We loved Corei and we can’t let them get away with what they did. 
• The unit itself was flawed, people absconded multiple times a week and while outside of the unit, venerable patients had been raped, sexually assaulted and tried to end their life. Simmons house showed little to no sympathy or ownership to said situations.
• bank staff where insufficiently trained on mental health and deescalation (two crucial things to be knowledgeable about on a psych ward). 
• They ‘restrained’ us and grabbed us unnecessarily (going against the strict no touch policy) leaving us bruised, scratched or injured further; all of which triggered all kinds of reactions from the young people. They (allegedly+ practically) abused the young people.
• when staff where told that a patient felt unsafe (needing to self harm or worse) they would brush it off, walk away or call it positive risk taking. 
• One psychiatrist (allegedly) hired private security whom have not had mental health or deescalation training, resulting in two patients being in custody for 20+ hours and on bail for three months. This was because the two patients where struggling and feeling unsafe in a place where thier friend managed to kill themselves a few days prior. Police where called and the two patients got kicked out (‘discharged’) overnight. It was unnecessary for the psychiatrist to hire private security because NHS security is an option.

Simmons house is a place that is meant to be safe but instead you leave with more trauma and not better off from where you started.
