Port Stephens' koalas are disappearing due to habitat destruction by sand mining and urban development. The koalas will soon be extinct on the Tomaree Peninsula. We need the NSW Government to help establish a secure, enclosed koala sanctuary on the Tomaree Peninsula to keep koalas safe from dogs, motor vehicles and developers. Management of the Port Stephens koalas needs to be taken away from Port Stephens Council and handed over to National Parks & Wildlife to protect the koalas from commercial agendas and "conflicts of interest", and to ensure accountability in the care of the koalas.

We can no longer leave the koalas in the wild and hope that they recover, this has been tried and obviously doesn't work. We must put them where they are safe from harm and their protection is guaranteed and ongoing.

We have the opportunity to choose which legacy we leave for the future. Will it be another species lost forever?
