New skatepark for City of Rockford, MN
The Issue
My name is Dallan Hickerson,
I'm from Boise, Idaho and I'm a Skateboard Instructor and Ambassador for 3rd Lair Skatepark in Golden Valley, MN. I strongly believe that skateboarding and other action sports are a creative outlet that teach things like determination and self confidence to the younger generation in a fun, athletic, and positive way.
My skateboarding journey began in 2002 when I was 8 years old. It was awesome growing up skateboarding in Boise with all the skateparks in the city where they've created a lot of safe spaces for skateboarding. Fast forward to age 15 (2008), I had to move to Greenfield, Minnesota. Being a skateboarder, I was pretty devastated when I heard that we were moving to the country but to my surprise there was a skatepark in the next town (my mom made sure I had one nearby). It wasn't much but it was the Rockford Skatepark at Lions Park and it was everything I needed to make it through High School as a skateboarder. I spent almost everyday there after school practicing and skateboarding with my friends. 2008 was my freshman year of high school and I lived in Greenfield until the year after I graduated (2013). Rockford Skatepark kept me busy, in shape, and out of trouble. That old skatepark meant a lot to me and the action sports community in Rockford.
Help me advocate for a newer, better, more welcoming and inclusive skatepark!

Rockford has a thriving community of young people. A new skatepark would provide these young people with a safe place to practice action sports, build their skills, and socialize!
Action sports have scientifically been proven to boost mental health, enhancing self-confidence, and fostering resilience among participants!
Let's invest in our future, let's propel our community towards active and healthy lifestyles, let's build a new Rockford Skatepark!
Please support this petition if you believe, like I do, that the Rockford community deserves a space where Skateboarding and action sports can thrive. Sign my petition today!
