The Issue

As a daily commuter on Patetown Rd and W. New Hope Rd., I have experienced and witnessed the constant struggle faced by multiple drivers trying to make a left turn at the intersection, particularly during the busy morning and afternoon hours. The intersection, situated directly in front of Wayne Christian School, becomes a traffic bottleneck as parents exiting the school often fail to yield, making it extremely challenging for others to navigate their way to work or school. The same occurs on Country Day Rd from Patetown Rd.

This area, much like more urbanized regions, experiences heavy traffic, yet it lacks the necessary infrastructure to manage this efficiently. The absence of a left turn signal critically disrupts the flow of traffic, resulting in unnecessary delays and heightened stress for those commuting on a tight schedule. Furthermore, the aggressive driving behavior from some parents, who speed up from substantial distances to prevent left turns, only exacerbates the problem, defeating the core values of courtesy and empathy one would expect from a community associated with a Christian academy.

To alleviate these issues, the installation of new signalization or left turn signal at the intersection is imperative. This measure would promote a smoother transition for all drivers, enhancing safety and traffic flow during peak hours. According to transportation studies, implementing left turn signals at busy intersections can reduce traffic delays by up to 15%, significantly reducing the risk of accidents and conflicts between drivers.

I urge the local traffic authorities to take immediate action by installing a left turn signal at this critical intersection. This effort will not only improve the daily commute of many individuals who rely on W. New Hope Rd. and Country Day Rd.,but also encourage a more respectful and cooperative driving environment which is vital for community well-being.

Please sign this petition to help implement this necessary change for the safety and convenience of all commuters.
