It's a Roundabout Time!

Around half of all crashes on NSW roads occur at intersections. T-intersections are one of the most dangerous areas and have the highest fatality rate. 

The Byron Bay Road (Coast Road) and Byron Street exit from Lennox Head is becoming nearly impossible to traverse. The speed limit on the Byron Bay Road (Coast Road) needs to be rectified from 80km to 60km to just beyond this intersection.

Please let’s move swiftly to address this increasingly dangerous intersection and keep everyone safe, as well as moving the traffic flow in a safe and uncongested manner. There are too many near misses and unsafe practices through frustration and speed, whilst trying to egress onto the Byron Bay coast road or into Lennox Head. 

Roundabouts have 90% fewer fatalities, 75% fewer injuries, and a 37% reduction in overall collisions. The tight circle of a roundabout forces drivers to slow down, improves traffic flow and driver awareness. They are both safe and effective. With our population booming and so many tourists now putting Lennox Head on their must see list, the traffic volume has increased twofold – a roundabout here is urgently required. The safety of everyone that utilizes these roads is in your hands so PLEASE ACT NOW!
