New Parking Garage at Lynnwood City Center Station

The Issue

Sign the petition for a new parking garage at Lynnwood City Center Station!

As a student commuter who relies on the Lynnwood City Center Station for my travels, the struggle to find adequate parking has been a constant source of frustration.

With the current parking facility filled by noon,  2nd shift workers find themselves with nowhere to park. Many of us have resorted to parking in a lot across the street, only to face warnings from the police. It's disheartening to be penalized for a problem that stems from poor city planning, not from us.

Lynnwood City Center Station is a pivotal hub for many commuters. Hundreds of people use it every day to travel to work, school, or other essential destinations. Unfortunately, the lack of sufficient parking hinders its efficiency and accessibility. This problem doesn't only affect students and workers; it impacts everyone who relies on the station to go about their daily lives.

The construction of a new parking garage at the Lynnwood City Center Station is a necessity. The introduction of Sound Transit’s Link light rail service was a forward-thinking step for our community, aimed at enhancing connectivity. However, without ample parking, this initiative cannot reach its full potential.

We propose that the City of Lynnwood and Sound Transit collaborate on an actionable plan to design and construct another parking structure at the City Center Station. Solutions such as multi-level structures or utilizing nearby land could be explored to accommodate the growing needs.

Events in Seattle have a profound impact on daily commuters, revealing a transportation system already stretched to its limits. With the Mariners advancing to the World Series, cars are spilling into overflow parking lots across the city. If this is the situation now, imagine what will happen when Seattle hosts the FIFA World Cup. Our public transit system, as it stands, is not prepared to handle the surge in attendance that such global sporting events will bring.

This improvement will not only serve current users but also accommodate future growth, reducing the congestion in nearby areas and minimizing the negative impact on local businesses and residents.

By signing this petition, you are supporting an enhancement to our city's infrastructure, advocating for a solution that benefits all. We urge the local government and city planners to take immediate action in addressing the parking crisis at the Lynnwood City Center Station. Please lend your voice to this cause and help us bring about the change our community desperately needs. Sign and share the petition today!
