Recall Mayor LaToya Cantrell

The Issue

Our city is hurting. We need a leader. Mayor Cantrell has shown time and time again that she is not fit to lead. She has put the needs of the citizens second to her donors.

This was first demonstrated on a national level with the tragedy that was the hard rock casino collapse. The lack of action taken while deceased citizens were left to rot in the building was disposable to say the least.

During the pandemic, Cantrell went to meet the White House to ask for additional federal funding to aid our city. She flew there only to be denied entry for not meeting the White House’s covid protocols, all on the tax payers dime.

As the president of the board of chairs for the New Orleans Sewerage and Waterboard she has continued to fail. The waste management in this city is appalling. Trash piles up by the day while the city denies our sanitation workers a living wage and proper PPE like gloves. Cantrell has recently tried to use Hurricane Ida as an excuse for this issue. While it certainly does not help with the trash, this was a problem well before the storm.

Additionally, during the storm our new pumping stations lost power and their backup power failed forcing them to make the decision to dump all of our raw sewage into the river. The city has been running their pumps in an antiquated power source for years now and Cantrell promised to overhaul this. President Biden even visited these stations and provided us with federal funding to update it. Where have those funds gone? Why can we not secure clean water and proper waste management for our city. The cost these actions won’t be fully realized until years to come.

Recently we have seen Cantrell waste tax payer dollars on frivolous travel. When she was questioned she doubled down. She chose to support criminals over the citizens who were the victims in a car jacking.  She has chosen her special interests over the tax payers every time.

Our city is hurting beyond belief and we need a leader who cares for its citizens. Not one who surrounds them at a bar verbally accosting them. We need to stand up as a community and tell Cantrell that we won’t take this anymore. It’s time for change!
