Please give our local community Store back the privilege to use SNAP on the Navajo Nation
The Issue
Hello everyone! I wanted to address this attention to you all that we as the people of Pueblo Pintado on the Navajo Nation and surrounding communities need to get our right back to purchasing with the State Resources from SNAP to W.I.C (Women, Children and Infants) at the Chaco Wash Store in Pueblo Pintado, NM which is in a desolate area. It is a place where people can go to purchase food and not all people have money to purchase food there which makes it very difficult for many families out there! The store is located far from cities and to travel to the city would take 2 or 3 hours!!! Most people there don't have transportation or they have to walk to their destination. Most everyone there has SNAP and W.I.C they don't have many jobs out there because there is not many places to get a job around that area which is why it is very difficult for people to purchase their food with money because not everyone has that luxury! The store owner Dennis Buckman is a very nice and caring person he will try to help as much as he can and just because of one mistake helping a person (that person kept begging for help until he agreed) our community state resources... SNAP and W.I.C purchasing was taken away! I am pleading with you to sign this petition to get our SNAP and W.I.C purchasing back to our Elders and many other people who are on disability or have children that only travel to that one store to buy food with SNAP and W.I.C! They also buy other necessities they need for themselves to get by with every little money they have. To make things harder they had to STOP selling PROPANE at that store and now they have to travel 2 or 3 hours away just to keep warm or cook their food. Sometimes they run out and they go without it usually starving themselves until they make enough money or wait for their monthly check in order to buy some more. Again PLEASE help us get our CHACO WASH STORE back to NORMAL! Thank you for taking the time to read this cry for help for our community and surrounding areas of Pueblo Pintado, NM. Much love and continue to stay safe! ❤️
