Dear Sir/Madam,

We are writing to inform you that due to an increase in the cases of Brucella canis in Great Britain, safeguarding declarations have been published to require pre-import testing for Brucella canis for all dogs originating in or dispatched from Romania. We have taken this action to ensure that we continue to protect our biosecurity and mitigate against the risk of Brucella canis.

Under this safeguarding declaration, which will come into force on Tuesday 7 October, all persons who wish to commercially import dogs from Romania must ensure that for each dog:

a negative test result for Brucella canis from the National Reference Laboratory, Weybridge, is added alongside other supporting documents to the Import of Products, Animals, Food, and Feed System (IPAFFS) 2 working days prior to entry;

The dog must enter into Great Britain no later than 30 calendar days following the date on which its blood sample was collected.

You should wait for the test results before you submit your import notification on IPAFFS.

Unfortunately this will make it very difficult if not impossible

They need to try and change this to a more reasonable time frame of atleadt 45 to 60 days of bloods taken to give these rescues a chance to transport dogs safely
