The Issue

After a U.S. citizen, Renee Nicole Good, was shot and killed by an ICE agent in Minneapolis, the city responded with courage and clarity.

Mayor Jacob Frey said what needed to be said:

“To ICE, get the f--- out of Minneapolis.”

Residents flooded the streets, protesting the killing, holding signs, and demanding ICE leave their neighborhoods. And they were right to do it.

Now it’s time for New Jersey to step up and join the call.

We are urging Governor Phil Murphy, Senators Cory Booker and Bob Menendez, and mayors across New Jersey — especially in cities like Newark, Jersey City, and Paterson — to speak out clearly and publicly:
ICE is not welcome in our communities.

Renee Good was a mother, a citizen, and not the target of any investigation. Yet she was killed during a federal operation that should never have come to her city in the first place. Her death was preventable — and her memory demands action.

We call on:

  • New Jersey elected officials to publicly reject ICE’s presence in our state
  • Cities across New Jersey to cut ties with ICE and deny access to local resources
  • Residents to join in peaceful protest and community action, as Minnesotans did.

We’ve seen what happens when federal immigration agents act with impunity. ICE has a long record of violence, secrecy, and abuse — and now, a citizen is dead.

New Jersey has a proud history of standing for immigrants, civil rights, and community safety. We cannot let that legacy be tarnished by silence.

Add your name to demand that New Jersey leadership speak up, and that residents across the state join Minneapolis in saying:

ICE out of our cities. Now.
