Free Myrtle the turtle
The Issue
Myrtle is a gigantic turtle — 400 pounds of beauty and uniqueness! - displayed swimming in circle in a glass tank in Boston. The New England Aquarium holds Myrtle hostage, in confinement for over 40 years, while they keep selling tickets at Myrtle’s expenses.
Myrtle has been forced to live as a slave, working for this so-called non-profit group for so long, with no hope of retirement or going back to her natural environment, the ocean from where she was abducted in the 70’s.
No excuses could be acceptable to ignore the enormity of this crime against the most basic animal rights. Right in front of us, this is the biggest — literally! — and yet not seen mistake the land of the free uncharitably let happen for decades, but now our society needs to uncover it, admit the need to have it being fixed urgently, and act upon it.
After the pandemic experience we all went through, when we lost temporarily our freedom, we, more than ever will agree on how important it is to be free to see our peers, go places, enjoy the outdoors with sunlight and or moonlight, whichever we prefer. Myrtle is jailed for the crime of being so unique. I cried the day I saw her first time, a few years ago. I will never forget it, until I get the help needed to free Myrtle. When it happens, it will be the happiest day of my life. I believe all things are possible with God.
Please help me to free Myrtle.
