The Issue

We, the parents, guardians, and community members of the Chenango Valley School District, are demanding a change in athletic leadership.

The current state of our athletic programs under Brad Tomm has become unacceptable. As both Athletic Director and Head Varsity Football Coach, his lack of communication, inconsistent leadership, and dismissive treatment of parents and players have created a culture of frustration, confusion, and decline across all sports — not just football.

From soccer to lacrosse, baseball to softball, basketball, cheerleading to football, swim & volleyball….parents and student-athletes are voicing the same message: this program is not being led in a way that supports our kids’ growth, respect, or success. The environment has grown divided and discouraging, and the spirit of teamwork and development that once defined Chenango Valley athletics has faded.

We believe our students deserve better. They deserve a leader who listens, communicates clearly, and cares deeply about their academic, athletic, and personal growth. The Athletic Director should be someone who brings people together — not one who creates distance and frustration.

For these reasons, we, the undersigned, are formally requesting that Brad Tomm be removed from his positions as Athletic Director and Head Football Coach immediately.

If he wishes to remain in his role as Assistant Middle School Principal, that is his choice, but the time has come for new leadership within the athletic department.

We are calling on the Chenango Valley School Board and District Administration to take immediate action to restore accountability, transparency, and pride in our athletic programs. Our students — and this community — deserve nothing less.

Sincerely,

Concerned Parents and Community Members of Chenango Valley School District
