Currently, The New Albany-Plain Local schools charge the highest participation fees in the state of Ohio and most likely the entire country. At $625 per sport for all high school students & $425 per sport for middle school students with no family cap the participation numbers are dropping dramatically with each season. High School participation is already down 20% with middle school participation down 30%. In addition, families are no longer being provided opportunities to defray these costs. Hard working families are being priced out of allowing their children to experience a full educational experience. The New Albany Board of Education & new Superintendent are not currently proposing any reduction in fees. This must change. All students in a public school should have the ability to participate in extra or co-curricular activities without worry of financial means. Today we start our campaign called NA STAT FORCE ( New Albany- Students Together Achieve Together / Fair Opportunities Reach Children Equally). We speak with one voice that ALL our students matter! Go Eagles!
