Real estate transactions have been determined by the State of Nevada to be an essential business and/or service.  Open houses part of an effective marketing strategy for resale properties, and a vital component of residential resale transactions.  Disallowing them harms home sellers, unrepresented home buyers, and the industry.

We, the signatories below, strongly encourage Nevada REALTORS and local REALTOR associations to work collaboratively with state and local COVID-19 task forces to develop and implement procedures, policies, and best practices to allow for the resumption of

1) in-person, home tour events and open houses, on vacant or owner-occupied homes,

2) that are open to the general public and unrepresented parties,

3) that follow established COVID-19 reduction protocols including:

3)a) sanitation and protection;

3)b) limitation on the persons in the home at one time;

3)c) waivers of liability, and 

4) with the informed, freely given consent of the property owner.

As Nevada real estate licensees, homeowners, or home buyers, we believe that a well-controlled showing environment can be a safe showing environment, and we believe the training, education, and community focus of our REALTOR members can be trusted to ensure that open houses can be done safely and effectively, as they are done in other states.
