Stop the slaughter of Nevada's wild horses

This petition had 413 supporters

During the past four years, the number and pace of wild horse roundups have increased. Horses are terrorized, injured and/or killed each time the Bureau of Land Management schedules a roundup operation. It is federal law for these public lands to be set aside as a permanent home for these wild horse herds yet the mustangs are being wiped out while cattle and non-native species such as the bighorn sheep are allowed to stay. These horses that are gathered by the BLM are NOT supposed to be sold, they must be kept or put up for adoption but that is not the case here. The feds have already found a buyer and from one report from Fish and Wildlife, it looks like this is the same buyer known for shipping thousands of horses to Mexican slaughter plants. It poses the question, why are the mustangs sent to slaughter yet the antelope have doubled in size on those same lands and no attempt has been made to control the population for any other wild animal on the Sheldon Wildlife Refuge. Please sign this petition immediately to stop the eventual elimination of Nevada's wild horses. Thank you
