The current speed limits on Nevada state route 439, also known as USA parkway, are 35, 45, and 55 mph. This is mostly an open four lane divided highway with fencing on both sides of the road. It connects highway 50 and interstate 80, which both have speed limits of 65 mph or more. This highway can be easily negotiated at 65-70 mph, which is the normal flow of traffic, barring inclement weather conditions.

Traveling on USA parkway at least five times a week, I have seen the Nevada Highway Patrol and the Storey County sheriff department set up speed traps since it opened a little over a year ago. Most travelers use this route to commute back and forth to work in the Reno-Tahoe Industrial park. The top speed of 55 mph is nothing more than a means to collect revenue for both Lyon and Storey County. In fact highway 50 to the south, which is a two lane highway has a speed limit of 65 mph and limited fencing on the sides.
