Investigate Resort Fees Charged By Hotels In Las Vegas

Investigate Resort Fees Charged By Hotels In Las Vegas
The Issue
Resort Fees are tacked on to a travelers bill after they book a room. While they do state these fees will be added to the charges when you check in (In the fine print on their own websites), most hotels do this so they can advertise a lower price on travel websites like Priceline and Orbitz. By doing this, they show up on the first page when you search for the lowest price hotels. While some of these travel sites do tell you that these fees will be added later and collected by the hotel upon check in, most do not. Some of these hotels charge $20 per night, or more, in these Resort Fees which is sometimes more than what they advertise for the room rates on the travel sites. These hotels state that these fees are for botteled water, local calls, newspaper, internet usage, gym access, etc., a great deal of travlers do not need, want, or use these services. If you go to a website called "Vegas Gang" and listen to the podcast #93 dated Aug, 9, 2013, Derek Stevens, owner of "The 'D' Hotel and Casino" tell why he added a Resort Fee to guests at his hotel. He doesn't hid the fact that this was done so his hotel would show up on the first page of the travel websites.
Basically, what these fees boil down to, are the same "Bait and Switch" business practices that were used and deemed illegal in the 60's and 70's. We, the undersigned, feel that you should investigate this practice and determine wheather or not these fees are a fair business practice to the general public.
