Network Rail have announced that the crossing gate at Stone Crossing station will be closed at 5pm each night until further notice. To exit the station after 5pm passengers now have to take a ten minute detour on foot through a badly lit alleyway. At night, it's just a route users of the station should be expected to take. For those who may be less mobile, it's not an option anytime of the day - meaning they simply cannot use the station at all after 5pm

Closing the crossing at 5pm is unacceptable. Network Rail should immediately reinstate the crossing gate so that people can use the station safely and easily until the last train each day.
