Tell Netflix We Want a Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance Season One Blu-ray!
The Issue
Fans of The Jim Henson Company/Netflix co-production, "The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance" are a passionate group. We've been supportive of this franchise, "The Dark Crystal", for almost 38 years now. We've obsessively collected posters, books, comics, sculptures and prop reproductions, toys and memorabilia, original artwork, Betamax cassettes, VHS tapes, laser discs, DVDs, and Blu-rays. As much as we love the world and the characters of the fictional Thra universe, we also love to collect anything and everything related to it.
We're a creative, inclusive, and compassionate group that thrives to live our lives by the example that Jim Henson set. Many of us are artists and artisans, puppeteers and dancers, cosplayers, writers, and some of us even work within the entertainment industry in different capacities. We have the commitment, the connections, and the community to cultivate a larger fandom and therefore a larger audience for this franchise; we have quality and quantity as consumers.
Now, in the light of Netflix's decision to not renew AoR for a second season, the fate of our favourite characters looks to be unknown, their future seemingly as grim as that of the Gelfling. BUT there is hope. By signing this petition and demanding that the series is made available for home video on DVD, Blu-ray, and/or 4K we can continue to revel in this imaginative world we all love so dearly. What's more, though, is that we can help to promote the series and expand the fandom and viewership even more.
What we want is a physical home media release with "The Crystal Calls" documentary, audio commentaries, subtitles, audio descriptions, and interviews. We believe that such a release will actually outperform the viewing statistics on Netflix (many fans don't subscribe to streaming services or premium channels and wait for physical releases to watch shows). But moreso, we believe that a home media release will serve as testament to the size of this fandom, and to the overall number of customers that Netflix can still profit from through the expansion and continuation of "The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance" franchise.
