Netflix is the most used streaming service in the world with almost 200 million subscribers. They have created numerous original hit TV shows and movies since 2013. Netflix has likely had influence on nearly every important topic ranging from racial justice with the Black History Month category, to gay rights with the LGBTQ category. This petition serves as a reminder to Netflix that equality doesn't stop with humans - it continues with animals.

Most of us are familiar with and appreciate Netflix's progressive views and if you're like me, animal welfare is as important in my life as other ethical values. If Netflix added an "Animal Welfare" genre, they could play a part in being the change people wish to see in the world. More people would open their eyes to the sad reality of the everyday industries that neglect and torture animals if they were to happen upon this eye opening category. *A recent study has revealed that the number of Americans following plant-based diets is up nearly 9.6 million over the last 15 years. This is a 300% increase and nearly 3% of the US population- imagine the jump in numbers if Netflix had an entire category dedicated to the subject of animal welfare. Simply put, it would be a category worth adding.

Whether you have altered your diet because of animal welfare, or not, we have all likely stumbled across Cowspiracy, The Game Changers, What The Health, or The Milk System. This petition aims to help create a specific category for animal welfare in hopes that the highlighted documentaries may reach a larger audience and make a bigger impact for future generations and animal rights.
