Give Alina Starkov and General Kirigan (aka The Darkling, aka Aleksander Morozova) a happy ending in the Netflix adaptation of the “Shadow and Bone”/grishaverse series. By happy ending we mean: an ending where Aleksander/General Kirigan/the Darkling does not die, and where he and Alina get to live together, as a romantic happy couple, in the end. The darkling deserves a better ending than what he was given in the books, and Alina deserves better as well. She should be able to keep her powers and help General Kirigan redeem himself. The Darkling is an extremely popular character amongst fans of the books, and if you kill him off like he his killed off in the book series, you will lose interest of thousands to millions of fans of the show. Killing the darkling is a bad PR move, and isn’t it better to retcon the ending of the books instead of losing money from all of the fans who want to see him live? Alina also deserves a happy ending, which she does not truly get at the end of the books. She loses her powers and the man she loves- I wouldn’t call that a happy ending. Mal may have been changed as a character in the show, but Alina stil deserves better (and in this case, better is the darkling). You could give him a redemption arc or just let him and Alina rule Ravka together- however you do it, let the Darkling live and let him finally have happiness with the sun summoner herself. They are literally made for eachother, so doesn’t it make sense narratively to let them be together? Darklina endgame is the best way to go- give them a happy ending! Let the Darkling live! Give them more sexy kiss scenes! Give them more screentime together! You get the most traction and attention for this show from Darklina fans, so the more attention and time you give to Darklina, the better it will be in the long run for all of us, and the best way to get Darklina fans to buy your merch and hype up the show to their friends and family is by giving us what we want: Darklina Endgame. You’ve been using Darklina to promote this show the whole time- you KNOW this couple is what is selling the show- so why not go all in and give them a happy ending!! We don’t need any more sad endings to stories. We’ve had enough of those in the past ten years. Give us a happy ending for Alina and the Darkling!!! Plus, Ben Barnes and Jessie Mei Li have AMAZING onscreen chemistry- why ruin that with a sad ending? Don’t kill General Kirigan, he’s your sexiest character!
