Netflix must remove the series dead or alive featuring Amirah Watson from air!
The Issue
Netflix recently aired its new docuseries Missing: dead or alive. In episode 2 it featured the protective mother Tynesha Brooks and her daughter Amirah Watson who had fled to escape documented abuse by the father Mansoor Watson.
The heavily scripted docuseries went on to portray the mother as a mentally unbalanced criminal who had merely taken her child 'because she didn't like a court order'. The police even went as far as to say they had real concerns the mother would murder her daughter! All the while they depicted the father as an angel, featuring footage of him praying to God in church to support their narrative.
The dialogue within the episode shows that when the police were made aware of the 22 allegations of abuse to Amirah by her father Mansoor they initially had serious concerns, but later chose to ignore all of the abuse allegations and evidence after speaking to yet another corrupt family court judge who had weighted his decision in favour of the United Nations discredited and banned pseudo-science parental alienation.
The United Nations have recently, publicly called on all governments to strip the use of PA from cases where allegations of abuse have been disclosed, but despite this our governments have increased its findings and use it as a weapon in the family courts to remove children from their protective mothers and hand them over to their alleged abusers.
The fact that ALL of the mother's family and friends formed a protective network around her should have alerted the producers of the series that something in the fathers story did not quite fit.
The producers took the court documents for face value, despite the overwhelming amount of recent evidence, studies, and publications to show that evidence is often suppressed in the family courts and all too often children are removed from their protective mothers and placed into the care of their abusers.
To any mother watching the interview with Amirah upon her return to her father you can see that the child's words had been rehearsed and scripted, the child showed no emotion when she called her dad 'her hero'.
If the series wanted to show a true portrayal of this story, they would have interviewed the mother and aired HER side of the story, but interestingly they avoided doing that, instead choosing to stick with their fictitious scripting of a poor victim father who never put a foot wrong.
As the founder of a women's organisation campaigning against the corruption in the family court I am outraged that Netflix has chosen to portray such a badly investigated case and air it as the truth.
The damage this episode has done to the thousands of women around the world who have fled domestic violence to protect their children is immeasurable.
WE ARE DEMANDING THAT:
NETFLIX REMOVE EPISODE 2 OF MISSING: DEAD OR ALIVE FROM AIR
PUBLICLY APOLOGISE TO AMIRAH AND HER MOTHER FOR THEIR BIASED OPINION OF HER
INTERVIEW AND AIR THE TRUE STORY TOLD BY AMIRAHS MOTHER AND HER FAMILY TO EXPOSE THE ABUSE OF POWER THAT HAS OCCURED
