Hannibal, though it started off as a good TV show, quickly isolated it's viewers by catering to a small minority of fans. If the show continues it's going to continue to narrow more and more to that same minority until you basically have no one watching the show. The creator of the show, Bryan Fuller, is more interested in how gay he can make the two main characters appear without actually making them have sex, than actual plot.

Though season 1 was stunning, the further he's gotten into the show, the more he has ignored canon and treated the classic fans of the original icon like dirt. He doesn't care about a wide audience view, he only cares about a small minority group of people. In the third season ratings dropped massively. Not due to graphic content but due to confusing plot points and the needless sexual subtext between the two main characters. Fuller himself proudly has proclaimed he doesn't intend to follow the books any more. The show is only going to get worse, not better.

You only actually have a very small minority of fans who want this show to continue, most of whom can't even purchase Netflix subscriptions because they are teenagers and have no ability to do so. Picking up this show would be a waste of time and money since very few people would actually watch it. The actors are frustrated with the show and they want to leave to do other roles. Picking up this show will keep their contracts current and it's just cruel at this point. Please do not pick up NBC's Hannibal it's a waste of time and money.
