D’Pharaoh Woon-a-tai for Netflix’s Live Action ATLA’s Sokka

D’Pharaoh Woon-a-tai for Netflix’s Live Action ATLA’s Sokka
The Issue
Many times, Hollywood have always chosen lighter or Caucasian-looking people to play certain POC/Minority characters. Rarely do we see actual portrayals of their said characters, and WHEN we do get a POC actors to play a role, they’re usually held as a TOKEN MINORITY or miscasted.
For Netflix’s Live Action of Avatar: The Last Airbender, the role of SOKKA is being played by Ian Ousley. Despite him, being allegedly a part Native American, his appearance is on the Caucasian type. He does not look anywhere near the character that should be played. Meanwhile, D’Pharao Woon-a-Tai, an actor of a highly anticipated series, Reservation Dogs, clearly shows he is a better fit for the role.
Clearly, there are racial and colorist undertones when it comes to casting Hollywood actors. If you think you agree with my intention in bringing this into light, go ahead and sign the petition. Get everyone to start talking about these issues when it comes to hiring actors just base on their skin tones. Please feel free to share these so everyone can have their fare share of opinion on this issue, as well.
Some stories may just be fiction but to others it can be a great impact to their lives.
