I am a 24 year old male and before you click away please read a little before you do. When Tuca and Bertie was first announced I dismissed it as a Bojack Horseman knockoff. After having watched the trailer my opinion was changed from disbelief to genuine curiosity and after fully watching the entirety of the first season I was left speechless. I viewed the show with my girlfriend and the beauty of this was seeing how relatable it was for her. This show was not only humorous and quirky but truly explored some modern day problems that exist for women and potentially anyone who might be in a similar situation. Bojack Horseman holds your hand and walks you through a different perspective on certain problems like substance abuse and mental illness. Tuca and Bertie however puts it bluntly and even if the humor woven in helps soften the subject matter it still resonates with the viewer long after the episodes have ended. As a male I understand that what the show depicts isn't new but the writing and the characters really help make their stories and messages come across and makes me think about my own experiences. I encourage all who read this to rally together and help bring this show back. In conclusion Tuca and Bertie is a show that given time and support will become an amazing addition to Netflix and help open the doors for other amazing shows.
