On August 21st it was announced that Netflix had canceled two previously renewed shows, The Society (2019) and I Am Not Okay With This (2020), from going forward with a second season. Both shows had one season and were left off with big cliffhangers and large audiences excited to see where they’d pick up next. 

The Society had a Rotten Tomatoes score of 86%, and I Am Not Okay With This obtained an 87%, both well received by critics and fans and had strong support at Netflix. However, Netflix confirmed in a statement that both shows were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, which impacted production schedules and budgets on the two series.

Both shows tackled difficult topics such as losing a parent, teen pregnancy, mental health and sexuality, creating a tool with the power to shape the audience's knowledge and understanding about these important issues. They also included a diverse representation of POC, disabled, and LGBT cast and characters, as well as strong female leads. 

We are asking Netflix and show creators Christopher Keyser and Jonathan Entwistle to consider bringing back these shows when COVID circumstances are no longer in the way.
