Hey guys, this is u/SandThousand / u/SandMillion the creator of the petition and subreddit r/BanBigMouth attempting to ban the Netflix Original Series Big Mouth. This will be long, I apologize. Some of you may know me and others may not. I will give a brief run down of who I am and what's been going on with me. For the past 4 weeks I've been in terrible health due to everyone's favorite virus, it has put a terrible toll on my family and finances but I am lucky to say I will be fine.
I might have the timeline off but sometime around January I discovered a great subreddit that is no longer with us, which led me to learn of r/ConsumeProduct as well and the Netflix show Big Mouth. I really couldn't believe what I was seeing with that show. I still stand by every word of what I originally said on this petition:
Big Mouth is an absolutely horrific show. It should not exist. It depicts children's genitals and children having sex with "inanimate objects" (that talk, and are basically alive), masturbating, and other horrific scenes that will warp children for life. It depicts a demon fucking a living severed head in front of a child. This is too far. What is seriously next if we tolerate this kind of content? Netflix should pull the show completely.
Further, the show is created by the son of a billionaire; we know that clearly money has been paid to the plethora of publications that do glowing reviews on it as if it's a "kid friendly educational sex-ed show". It has a perfect score of 100% on all three seasons of RottenTomatoes. It is clear people are being paid to write rave reviews about this perverse, unfunny, horrible show that is available to children on Netflix. You don't even need to be 18 to watch the trailer on Youtube. Everything about this show has to go.
The show was renewed for three more season in mid 2019. You know they will continue to push the boundaries, because this show has no actual wit or humor, just child-sex sexuality. Ban Big Mouth.
Since then, the petition got passed around on many forums inside and outside reddit, and though some people signed it just to call us all snowflakes, the majority signed it with the real intent that Big Mouth should be banned, it currently sits at 19,204 signatures, with about 3000 of them being during my absence when I wasn't able to actively promote the petition.
My original account on reddit was r/SandThousand . People from r/BigMouth I have to assume somehow guessed at or otherwise hacked my account because they changed my e-mail (as I am not getting e-mails when I do password resets) and changed the password - this was not something I did and therefore it bricked the original account I started r/BanBigMouth with - therefore I had to convince the mods that I had chosen that it was in fact me on u/SandMillion by posting updates from the petition which confirmed it. After some initial skepticism, they realized it was in fact me.
However it appears that at the beginning of my illness, there was a ban wave of subreddits users from a certain other subreddit did not like. Fearing that r/BanBigMouth would be erased, the standing mods made r/BanBigMouth private. A week back, I realized they had done so, and there hadn't been any activity on the subreddit due to this, so I asked them if they would re-open it. About 5 days passed and I hadn't seen it get re-opened so I made an update on the petition about it, and then noticed it was public again. Thanks to the mods for opening it.
You might think "oh, there are bigger problems in the world now" but to me, this is part of a bigger societal problem that will only get much worse with isolation and with increasing cynicism, and we really must continue shaming and blaming the creators of Big Mouth and other filth aimed to warp kids minds.
Big Mouth has 3 more seasons planned and I know with kids stuck at home without school, they will be viewing this filth like no other time before. If you go through my posts on u/SandMillion and u/SandThousand you can find endless damning reasons that the show shouldn't exist, is honestly funded by some horrible people (Nick Kroll's billionaire parents) and that there is some seriously shady stuff going on with it. I'm just glad the subreddit is open again and we don't feel the need to be afraid of internet janitors and degenerates. Thank you all! Hope you are well.
