Add the Lifeline phone number and action steps to 13 Reasons Why

Netflix has stated that their new series, "13 Reasons Why,” aims to show that actions have consequences. We believe the series provides an opportunity to change the conversation around suicide by providing resources for individuals in crisis and demonstrating how actions can have a positive impact on those that may be thinking about suicide.
We are petitioning Netflix to add The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline number, 1-800-273-TALK (8255), before or after each episode for USA audiences.
We also ask that Netflix promote how individual actions can have a positive impact by sharing the 5 #BeThe1To action steps with their audiences. The Lifeline’s #BeThe1To action steps are accessible, individual actions anyone can take to help someone who may be thinking of suicide.
Suicide is the 10th leading cause of death in the United States, with over 40,000 dying by suicide every year. The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline has long shared the message that suicide is preventable, and that healing, hope, and help are happening every day in ways that few people hear or talk about. For every person who dies by suicide, there are 278 individuals annually who think seriously about suicide but do not kill themselves. These untold stories of hope and recovery are the stories of suicide prevention. By sharing stories from those who have positively coped through suicidal despair and by encouraging people to take action to help others in crisis, research shows that we can change lives.
