We are calling on Netflix to immediately update the content advisories for the 2026 film The Last House to include explicit warnings for "Animal Distress" and graphic animal violence. 

While the film is a work of fiction, a highly disturbing storyline involves characters killing a family dog, dismembering it, and using its remains in crude, homemade traps to catch wild foxes. 

Depicting these acts without proper context or visible warnings does not just shock the viewer—it actively normalizes extreme animal cruelty and the use of inhumane, primitive trapping methods. Homemade wildlife traps cause immense, prolonged suffering to animals in the real world and are highly restricted or illegal in many regions for this exact reason. Media has a powerful influence on public perception, and presenting these cruel practices as a casual survival tactic desensitizes audiences to animal suffering. 

Netflix already provides content tags for "Gore," "Language," and "Smoking." Audiences who wish to avoid graphic pet death and the depiction of illegal wildlife trapping deserve the same transparency.

Add an explicit "Animal Distress / Graphic Animal Violence" tag to The Last House immediately. 

Review its content guidelines to ensure future original programming does not trivialize or normalize inhumane wildlife trapping methods.

Subject: Concern Regarding Depiction of Animal Cruelty in Netflix Movie "The Last House" 

Dear Animal Advocacy Team,  
I am writing to bring your attention to the disturbing depiction of animal cruelty and distress in the newly released Netflix original movie, "The Last House" (directed by Louis Leterrier).  
While I understand that films use special effects, several scenes in this production have raised serious red flags for viewers concerned with animal welfare. Specifically, between minutes 42 and 46, the film graphically depicts the death of a family dog, followed by characters using the dog's remains as bait to trap and kill local wildlife (such as foxes and squirrels) through a chimney-trapping system.  
The normalization and graphic portrayal of these acts under the guise of entertainment are deeply unsettling. I am reaching out to see if your organization is aware of this production, whether the animal action on set was independently monitored by welfare organizations, and if you plan to address the irresponsible use of animal distress as a plot device with Netflix.
