Stop Nestaway from Harassing Customer
The Issue
Nestaway claims to provide hassle free renting experience by acting as an 'agent' in the rental transaction. Through their online platform they claim to make the process transparent easy for tenants like me. They target the young students and professionals who have come to a new city and looking to find a peaceful humble adobe who don't want to go through the traditional agents to find a suitable house.
Once a person becomes a tenant the plight starts.
1. Rental agreement shared on the day of moving running into multiple pages with too many legal open-ended terms and loopholes which they are using to their benefit leaving the tenants with no option.
2. Unexplained charges added to the dashboard which are never agreed on or informed or agreed upon. They manage everything through their online platform. They just create invoices e.g. Water tanker charges, garbage charges they are charging GST which is exempted.
3. Pathetic Customer service: There is just one customer service number which rarely gets answered and one has to be on hold for ages. Their online Service request is a sham. They close unresolved tickets and leave tenants with no option but to break their heads and be helpless. SLA's are just eye wash they don't adhere to SLA nor they solve any issues. Their customer care team is rude non helpful. Property manager or area managers are rude, and they don’t shy from threatening the tenants who voice their concern. All we can do is create tickets after tickets and once you are pushed to the wall with no option one decides to leave. Many take it to their social media where the customer care provides a template response but no action.
4. Online platform: They misuse the online platform to evade any responsibility. Every ticket there is an SLA which is just an eye wash. They don’t respect the tenant their problem. They go to an extent where they use backend system to manipulate the response they would have provided in past just to ensure they shed away from any responsibility or answerability. They create invoices, then settle them against the payments randomly. They are misusing the technology to harass the tenants not help them.
4. Hidden charges are imposed on tenants when they vacate house. The property manager inspection as reflected on their online platform is all a scam. They charge more than 50% of the security money as part of the vacating charges a painting or cleaning or some other clause. As the money is with them, we can't do anything but go into the endless loop of raising tickets which is closed without explanation or resolution. They deduct the money and we can't do anything.
As they are spreading their operation and scamming more and more tenants like this there has to be some action taken against Nestaway to stop them. They have to be accountable to all the grievances they have caused to tenants and financial disputes.
Hon. Minister Shri Hardeep Puri sir under your guidance there have been many landmark reforms in the Urban development please look into the matter of bringing the companies like Nestaway who are acting as 'Agents' under law. There should be strict governance for them making them accountable. Sir there should be provision similar to Consumer court to empower the tenants to get their gradiences addressed.
Ministry of Finance should look into their accounts as they are charging not on actuals but random billing. They are including 18 % GST (9% SGST and 9% CSGST) on items which are exempted from GST e.g. Water tanker or sanitation service.
