Let The NESCAC Athletes Play

Let The NESCAC Athletes Play
The Issue
We are asking NESCAC leadership to take the necessary actions required to schedule, and execute, a full slate of spring athletic competition within the conference.
We recognize that the pandemic has been a burden to all, and everyone has made sacrifices. However, the timing of the response to the pandemic has been especially difficult for spring student-athletes. This group lost their 2020 season, and now face the prospect of another lost season in 2021.
Last year there were many unknowns, and the spring athletes gracefully accepted the cancellation of their seasons, understanding that the risks at that time were just too great. However, it has since been proven that athletic competition can be conducted safely. This has been true at the professional, collegiate, high school, and youth level.
This past fall, NESCAC students proved that they could return to campus, the classroom, and the practice field safely and responsibly. They should be afforded the opportunity to prove that they can return to athletic competition in the same manner.
