Nepal Earthquake 2015 - Petition to Transparency International, CIAA Nepal and United Nations

This petition had 18,296 supporters

On 25 April 2015, Nepal got hit by a devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake claiming more than 8800 lives, 23000 and more people injured and millions affected, followed by a second major earthquake of 7.3 magnitude on 12 May 2015 adding agony to the already devastated nation. Nepal is one of the least developed countries and the government has declared a state of emergency and appealed for humanitarian assistance and sought international support.

It has been reported that the government of Nepal has received funds and pledges of Billions of Nepalese Rupees from countries all over the world ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/April_2015_Nepal_earthquake) ( https://fts.unocha.org/reports/daily/ocha_R10_E16575_asof___1505210302.pdf). The generosity has been overwhelming, BUT MOST OF THESE FUNDS HAVE NOT REACHED TO PEOPLE WHO ARE IN DESPERATE NEED OF IT, DUE TO ONGOING CORRUPTION AND BRIBERY WHICH IS DEEPLY ROOTED INSIDE THE POLITICAL SYSTEM OF NEPAL. People are aware of the situation but they cannot do anything about it as all the power lies with the politicians. (https://www.transparency.org/gcb2013/country/?country=nepal) The disreputably incompetent and irresponsible ministers who run the country are not mobilizing the funds properly even in this dreadful situation.

Most people have not even received the basic needs like tents and food supplies which does not tie up with the billions collected so far by the government. It is as simple as that. Committing to transparency and actually implementing it are two different things.

We are pleading to Transparency International, CIAA Nepal and United Nations urgently to step forward to get involved and scrutinize deceitful political affairs of Nepal that are interfering with and delaying humanitarian assistance and most importantly not mobilizing the funds received as earthquake relief. People in Nepal are tired of waiting for help from the government so it is imperative that TI, CIAA and UN take charge.

This petition is a serious call to TI, CIAA and UN to audit/investigate the earthquake relief fund so that help can reach out to survivors before it is too late. We are urging these organisations to target the corrupted leaders in power unbiasedly and do whatever necessary in support of anti-corruption for the victims of eathquake.

We need rescue and restoration on a national level and relying only on the work of volunteers is not a viable long-term solution for the millions affected, hence we call upon people and organisations in power because change is absolutely necessary.

Please sign and share this petition and help the victims of earthquake to get the aid which is being misused and delayed due to widespread corruption and bribery.

~ It is a humanitarian quest prompted by the dirty politics of Nepal, and as long as we have life, the fight for the well being of our fellow beings will continue.

(P.S. at this time of adversity, everyone is helping out each other in their own ways and the work of volunteers, NGOs, INGOs, Armies and civilians have been commendable. We would still need lot more funding and aids to get back to normalcy so please carry on donating to credible organisations and groups. Every little helps.)
