Save Our Schools & Small Communities

Save Our Schools & Small Communities
The Issue
The Nelson County Kentucky Board of Education has just started community discussions on a plan that would eliminate local middle schools and merge these students into two community high schools.
While community discussions are just starting; planning and financial commitments have already been made with your tax dollars!
What does this merger mean for you?
As a resident - They are pulling schools, students and families out of our communities. This is no small matter. Schools bring people to our small towns and contribute greatly to the economic vitality while fostering a sense of community. The loss of a local school will have a profound impact on local business.
As a parent - Your middle school student will be attending school at the high school. Middle school students' STEAM and Art programs will be replaced with career development focused classes. While they will have access to additional technology and education opportunities, they will be sharing these facilities with 16-18 year old children. Ultimately, do you have faith in the school system to protect your child? Or do you want advanced facilities for your child?
What can you do?
1. Become informed!
2. Attend local meetings and voice your opinion. Community Meetings are schedule at 5:30 on 4/26, 4/28, 4/29, 5/3, 5/5, 5/10 and 5/12.
